We had to face the fact we have outgrown the Monmouth Comprehensive as a venue. Last years tournament had a number of issues which were identified and something we were keen to act on.
The key issues were :-
The past few weeks the Juniors committee have been engaged with the Monmouth Countryside Community and Marketing Committee. For those who don’t know they are the people that run the Monmouth Showground.
During their monthly meeting, Paul and I were asked to present to the committee to request a date for the tournament but also see how we could work together in the longer term. It was a really positive meeting where we spoke about the community in Monmouth and how both organisations can accommodate the growing club. The presentation we made will be made available on the site in the coming week.
We are pleased to announce that we will be able to utilise the Show Ground for the tournament and that we will continue to work with the Show Ground Committee to utilise space for games and car parking. The new site should not only greatly improve safety from a road and car parking perspective but also give us access to a vast amount of space for numerous pitches.
We have also managed to secure the site for the ever-growing Girls teams on weekends. While it’s a great move there is still more hard work ahead of us as there will be a need to work on the designated ground to make it fit to play on. We’ve been proactively looking and have been lucky enough to find a local businessman who will supply a large roller and groundworks equipment.
By moving to this new location we will be free to expand and grow into the vast space available. This collaboration is a longer-term strategy that will allow the Juniors to flourish.
